The route to Abernathy via the Cedar Creek Trail is a lengthy, pleasant hike through lodgepole pine and deciduous forest, past a lovely waterfall to Abernathy Pass.

Cedar Creek Falls is two miles in on your left. In early to mid-summer, this is quite a pleasant little waterfall. Trail #476 continues up through the Cedar Creek Valley for several miles, along Cedar Creek the whole way. You will cross the west fork of Cedar Creek, then the creek itself. At this point, the trail leaves the creek as you start the steep climb to Abernathy Pass.

The views from the pass, which is also the border of the Sawtooth Wilderness, are excellent.
