The Highlands Trail forms a loop around the Highlands neighborhood in the city of Newcastle. It skirts this residential area through a forested band and includes three road crossings as part of its route. This is just one trail in the vast network of trails that run through the green spaces in the city of Newcastle.

Getting There

From I-405, take exit 7 and turn left onto NE 44th ST., before continuing straight onto 110th Ave., then Lincoln Ave for a total of 0.5 mile. Turn left onto Monterey Place for 0.2 mile, before continuing straight onto May Creek Park Drive for another 2 miles. Turn right onto Coal Creek Parkway, then turn left onto SE 91st and the trail will be on the left just after a guard house building. There is no dedicated trailhead, so you will have to find street parking. 

Take Transit:

King County Transit routes 114 and 240 stop at the intersection of Coal Creek Parkway and SE 91st St, which is a couple hundred feet from the trailhead.
