This short trail descends 200 feet to the base of a large 45-foot waterfall.

It is well worth the half-hour diversion for anyone traveling along the Mountain Loop Highway as the high falls are spectacular. Stretch your legs on the way back or to a hike, but note that the steps at the bottom can be quite slippery when wet.

Getting There

From Darrington, take the Mountain Loop Highway along the west side of the Sauk River. Drive 19.5 miles to Sloan Creek Road (FR 49) and turn left, then continue 1.1 miles to the trailhead.

From Verlot, drive east along the Mountain Loop Highway for 26.5 miles to Sloan Creek Road (FR 49) and turn right, then continue 1.1 miles to the trailhead.
