Northwest Forest Pass

Hike to a beautiful granite basin housing two sparkling lakes and big views. Explorations abound with nearly a dozen lakes to look down upon or explore around.

Note that this trail was originally user-made, and while it was absorbed into the Forest Service's system, it does not receive frequent maintenance. As such, the trail is very rough and has been impacted by lots of use. Please camp according to Leave No Trace principles and pack out your trash when you leave.

The Robin Lakes Trail begins at Deception Pass Trail on the Tucquala Meadows Trailhead. It heads southeast along the mountainside and through forest, then begins to climb steeply, winding through the trees and bluffs. After about a mile, break into more level ground near Tuck Lake, lying in a granite basin and surrounded by sparkling rock.

Past Tuck Lake the trail becomes indistinct. You will need a map and route-finding skill to follow it as it heads up rocky bluffs and into a small gully. Past Tuck Lake and up the steep, faint trail is Robin Lakes.

Please remember to camp away from the lakeshores and at established sites. Campfires are prohibited in this area, as they are in all areas above 5000 feet in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
