Follow an unplowed forest road as it meanders up the Tieton River Valley and keep on the lookout for elk, fox, martens and other wildlife that thrive in this wilderness area. Along the way you can enjoy views of Old Snowy Mountain or explore the wide meadows that line the trail.

It's also possible to do a variety of loops and follow several different trails here. The Sno-Park has five separate options, including one that involves a rather technical summit of Round Mountain. Be sure to have proper gear in order to attempt doing a winter climb of this mountain.

From the outset, the trail trends downhill to a fork, three-quarters of a mile from where you left your car. Here, you may go to the left and follow a path along the eastern side of the Tieton River another 1.75 miles, making for a 5.5 mile roundtrip, or continue on the western side of the river for another four miles, making it 10 miles round trip.

Along the way, enjoy views of the Goat Rocks in the distance on clear days. If it's cloudy, look nearer, examining the trees and snowbanks as you venture along.
