What is most remarkable about this highpoint is the beauty of the Columbia River and the impact of the Potholes Reservoir on the surrounding agricultural land: Vineyards adjacent to sagebrush and cherry orchards adjacent to wildlife habitat.
Map & Directions
Take I 90 to Vantage and turn south on Highway 243. Then go east on 24 SW. On your atlas or map, you will see a dirt road heading north just north of where Lock Island is located on the Columbia. The dirt road heads up to a "Wildlife Viewing Area" on the map. Take that dirt road and when you arrive at a T junction, go left or west and this will take you just below the ridge line. Park when the road gets too steep and walk to the high point which is 2696'. Several cell towers share the summit.
