Wapshilla Ridge is located on the south side of Craig Mountain Wildlife Area in Nez Perce County, Idaho. The area is jointly managed by The Nez Perce Tribe, The BLM, Idaho Fish and Game and Idaho Department of Lands. Wapshilla Ridge is known for its panoramic views of river canyons and the spring flower show.

A gate is located 37 miles south of Lewiston, ID, on Zaza Rd, and only hikers, bikers and equestrians are permitted out on the ridge, which eventually drops to the confluence of the Salmon and Snake Rivers. Carry all the water you need because the ridge is dry.

From the gate, the way is along gravel access roads. There are multiple crisscrossing roads as well as game trails throughout this area, so a map and navigation skills will aid visitors in finding their way. Hikers can stay on the ridge or choose to either head east and eventually drop down to the Salmon River, or stay trending west toward the Snake River.
