This hike was perfect today. Legit open trail at a state park that’s far enough from the city to avoid crowds but close enough that it took less than 1/4 tank of gas to get there.
The restrooms are open and there are social distancing reminders around the trailhead. We only encountered 3 small groups and there was plenty of space to keep our distance.
Enough about covid, on to the green! Every shade of green you can imagine. Ferns, moss, lichen and big huge trees. It’s absolutely lovely here. We spotted a number of woodpeckers and listened to birdsong the whole way. The canopy is thick but we were able to see and hear a pair of eagles in the treetops as we got closer to the river.
Trail is in great shape. A couple of wet spots but no problem for my daughters white sneakers. Shady hike on a hot sunny day. It was perfect.
Happy hiking. Stay safe.

Thanks. I’m trying really hard to follow these covid rules. It sure will be nice when they open the rest of the trails!
