The parking lot was pretty full but a friendly park ranger was there to greet everyone and direct to open spaces (I wish he hadn't dropped his mask to talk to us, though). Bringing a Discover Pass may save you a few minutes. The short trail to the view is spacious but take care at the edges.
If you do choose to take the user-created path down to the water, sturdy shoes will help but not necessarily prevent slipping on the steep descent. Plenty of places to cool off in the water. If you're on a tight schedule, you'll need about an hour and a half to get all the way down, enjoy this amazing place for 20 minutes and get back to your car. Worth a repeat visit. Bring sunscreen and don't miss the Hawaiian shaved ice!
