Mt Baker remained hidden behind clouds while we were there, but blue skies, warm weather and a nice breeze gave us a nice meander at Wiley Slough! There were not a lot of birds, but we had a highlight for the day watching an osprey eating a fish it had recently caught! We saw a few ducks, a grebe, several herons, a snipe, one yellowlegs, chickadees, robins, harriers, blackbirds and a kingfisher. There were blackberries that looked to be ripe, but were sour to taste! A few lingering flowers added color to the area. There was a field of thousands of pumpkins and squash in a field along the Wiley Road near the entrance to the Wildlife Refuge and the odor was not fragrant!

Thank you! It was good to be meandering again! We hope for many more now that the weather is cooler and the crowds fewer! Thank you again for thinking of us "old folks"!
