After having done trail work multiple times on this trail last year to get it ready to open, I finally got a chance to come back and actually hike (almost) the whole thing. It was great to see how the stuff I helped do was holding up and to see the progress that had been made since then. Trail is in beautiful condition. Arrived at the trailhead around 8 and there were only a couple other cars (a few trail runners who had come out early). Was hiking with a friend who climbs, so we did some side trips to check out a few of the climbing areas before heading up to the balcony. Kept pushing on towards the summit, be we both had to be back in Seattle around 2 and had been taking our time, so we turned back at about the junction of the Web Peak trail. Stopped at the museum on the way back down (the way is indicated by an arrow of rocks, see photo, on a large rock right before a small log stream crossing). Didn't notice any bugs and we didn't get high enough to see any residual snow, although previous reports sound like there still may be some near the peak. Parking was more full, but not at capacity when we returned (we had passed a couple large parties climbing up as we descended). Great mid-week hike and gorgeous weather, but be sure to apply sunscreen and stay hydrated as the days get warmer and sunnier.
