First time hiking in this area of Mt Adams and we timed the weather perfectly - great weather, amazing sunset, and ZERO bugs! The trail is in great condition, although incredibly dusty/sandy (my white dog was brown by the end of the weekend), and is easy to follow. It's quite a haul to get down there, but the road is a mix of gravel and pavement and is also in pretty great shape. We were told we'd have to melt snow in order to get water at high camp, but there actually is a tiny stream of snow melt at the base of the 2nd snowfield that is deep enough to pump and filter. The next morning we hiked up to the lake above high camp - in hindsight, it would have been better with spikes and going up the snowfield rather than trying to scramble up the moraine with huge loose rocks giving way with each step, but it was nice little post-breakfast adventure. All in all, great hike with great views!
