It’s September 2. Hunting season is ramping up on many public lands across the state. The last long weekend of summer is right around the corner. And, it's time to head back to school. Here’s some news you may have missed while out on trail this week.
Hunting safety: Fall and winter are when many public lands open up to hunting. Be sure to research the hunting season schedule and locations before you head out, and make yourself visible by wearing bright colors like pink, red and orange if you are hiking somewhere where hunting is allowed.
Labor Day: The long weekend is fast approaching, and whether you want to get out for just a day or for all three, we have some recommendations on where to go. Remember that Washington is still under a burn ban, and many active fires continue to burn across the state. Be sure to look up current conditions for wherever you go and recreate responsibly, as always.
Back-to-school: This week marks the start of school for many kids in Washington, which usually means a bit more time on a computer a bit less time on trail. If you want to make sure you still squeeze in some trail time with your family, check out our hiking resources that incorporate some learning on trail.
